Katie has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Outdoor Education and Psychology from the University of Minnesota Duluth and is a certified Wilderness First Responder with additional certifications in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR & AED. As the Associate Program Director for Safety & Delivery, she oversees all aspects of program safety and field staff training and development.

Katie’s decade of experience with Outward Bound includes having instructed 60+ expeditions out of the Philadelphia & Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound Schools, including 5-14 day backpack, canoe, urban, and multi-element courses.  In addition, she has instructed backpack expeditions on the Appalachian Trail in Maine, urban expeditions in San Francisco, California, and a 28-day Intercept canoe course in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Minnesota.

Hailing originally from North Dakota, Katie has played ice hockey her entire life and currently coaches a 17U Girls’ Travel team at the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation here in Philadelphia. She also loves snowboarding, playing disc golf, and raising backyard chickens in her free time.
