The Philadelphia Outward Bound School (POBS) was founded in 1992 to provide the students of the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) and young people in and around our city with experiential education opportunities in the outdoors. Today, we continue this tradition with one-day programs at our locations in Fairmount Park, as well as multi-day expeditions to wilderness areas like the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
These programs are built around supported challenges in natural environments which help students build self-confidence and leadership skills that will stay with them throughout their lives.
