Merit Award Courses

Every year, Philadelphia Outward Bound School offers four fully-funded merit award courses. Admission to these courses is highly selective and includes an application, essay, letters of recommendation, and an interview.

Get Out And Lead (GOAL)

Requirements:

• For students entering grades 7-9
• $50 Application Fee
• Must be resident of Delaware Valley.
• Preference given to Philadelphia residents.

Philadelphia Youth Leadership Corps (PYLC) 

Requirements:

• For students entering grades 10-12
• $50 Application Fee
• Must be resident of Delaware Valley.
• Preference given to Philadelphia residents

New Jersey Youth Leadership Corps (NJYLC) 

Requirements:

• For students entering grades 10-12
• $50 Application Fee
• Must be resident of Northern New Jersey.
• Preference given to students from Newark, NJ.

Educators Expedition

Requirements:

• For educators from PA, NJ or DE.
• $250 Application Fee
• There is a 7-day course for Philadelphia educators and a 5-day course for Pittsburgh/Allegheny County educators.
• **Both courses start and end at the Philadelphia Outward Bound School. Full or partial travel reimbursement funds are available for Pittsburgh/Allegheny participants.
