Rappeler Profile: Rachel Park

Plans are underway for our biggest event of the year-Building Adventure 2014.  Spots are filling up so register now to rappel 31 stories from Brandywine Realty Trust’s One Logan Square!  This event raises crucial funds that allow us to carry out our mission and serve students.  For more information, visit our event page or follow us on all our social media platforms.

Now it’s time to meet Rachel Park, a former student of the Colorado Outward Bound School and intern for POBS who is rappelling with us this year!

Explain your history with the Philadelphia Outward Bound School.

I went on two courses with the Colorado Outward Bound School and fell in love with Outward Bound’s program and what they represent. What I learned on course changed my perspective on life and will be something I carry with me my entire life.  I wanted to get involved with the Outward Bound program, so I could help others have the opportunity to have this life changing experience. Since I live in the Philadelphia area, I became an intern with the Philadelphia Outward Bound School in the Development office, which was AWESOME! It was wonderful to be a part of such an incredible organization.

Years participating in Building Adventure: 2013, 2014

Total funds raised to date (cumulative): Not sure of exact total, but still counting!

Day Job: I’m currently finishing my degree at Temple University in Kinesiology.

A lesser known fun fact about you??  My favorite animal is a Moose

Why are you rappelling, Rachel? To raise awareness and funding for POBS, so they can continue to do great things for the Philadelphia community, as well as to have some fun!

How will you prepare? By continuing to reach out to people and spread the word about how awesome building adventure and POBS is and encouraging them to join in on the experience.

Your second favorite way to adventure (after BA of course!)I enjoy to travel, and because I’ve gotten really into hiking the past few years so now every new place I go to I like to find neat trails to explore. I’m pretty active, I think that everyone should try anything once, next on my list is skydiving!
