On Tuesday, November 12, POBS will host a special screening of STILL ALIVE at The Discovery Center, joined by director Santino Martirano.
The film explores the career of Klaas Willems, a rock climber living with cystic fibrosis. Originally given 25 years to live, the film finds Willems tackling difficult routes ten years past his “expiration date” and seeking out destinations free from air pollution. STILL ALIVE has been shown at outdoor film festivals around the world, and was an official selection for the Banff Mountain Film Festival Road Show program in 2024.
The screening of the half-hour film will take place at 7 PM at The Discovery Center, 3401 Reservoir Drive, Philadelphia, PA, and will be followed by a panel discussion with the film’s director Santino Martirano as well as Samantha Kane, Program Coordinator of the University of Pennsylvania Health System’s Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program and Eliza Callard, who is involved with the Penn program and knows firsthand what it’s like to live with this genetic disease.
