Educator Expeditions

Outward Bound Educator Expeditions are professional development courses designed for educators and school administrators. The goal is to develop experiential education and social emotional learning skills that can be applied in a variety of learning environments. Our courses provide opportunities to personally experience Outward Bound and explore its renowned leadership curriculum.

Experiential education is learning by doing. Our courses encourage growth and peer-to-peer teaching and learning, build courage to take risks, inspire a sense of compassion, expand curiosity, and develop self-confidence and self-reliance. All courses foster communication, teamwork and leadership skills.

Scholarships are available for educators and youth-serving administrators in the Philadelphia area interested in attending one of this summer’s educators canoe expedition in the Delaware Water Gap.

Course Dates: July 29 - August 4, 2025

"Because of Outward Bound, I am challenging myself to incorporate more experiential learning in the classroom. Learning by doing isn’t utilized enough in classrooms. Through the tasks and challenges on my Outward Bound expedition, I felt exhilaration, fear, and ultimately, pride. That is the gift we, as educators, can impart to our students." - Educator Expedition Participant
