Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator serves as a cross-functional team member - working closely with both the Marketing and Development Departments at Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound School (BCBOBS). The primary objectives of this position are to execute a robust communication plan that serves all segments of the organization’s network. A successful candidate will deliver all the content necessary to connect a community of donors, alumni, partners to the organization’s mission through email marketing, social media, and outreach.

The ideal candidate will have a wide range of experience in digital marketing and media distribution, and be comfortable working in both an office and outdoor setting. S/he should be prepared to work independently, be highly motivated, and bring new ideas to the team.

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will be responsible for an annual pipeline of digital and print content that serve the needs of the organization’s strategic plan objectives. This may require outdoor photography/video, conduct interviews, creative writing, copy editing, and scheduling social content across various platforms. This is a full-time position. BCBOBS’s standard office hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. This position requires a flexible work schedule; some evening and weekend hours are required.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director and Development Team to deliver all scheduled and as-needed emails, as well as direct mail communications
  • Work with staff and students to create content according to an annual communications calendar
  • Moderate all social media channels for prompt follow up and engagement
  • Actively engage in social listening to identify brand advocacy opportunities and potential influencers
  • Coordinate with printing vendors for print projects, and direct mail
  • Manage marketing assets including testimonials, photography, and videos
  • Represent Marketing and Development staff at in-school briefings and events with partner organizations
  • Support for annual fundraising event (Cornerstone Award Dinner)


At least 3-5 years of direct experience and knowledge in the following:

  • Writing, designing, and sending email communications to targeted lists of contacts using an email marketing system
  • Creating social media content, along with scheduling, moderation and general management
  • Working within the guidelines of an established brand identity
  • Managing data with CRM software and/or systems (eg Salesforce)
  • Publishing written and visual web content (eg WordPress)
  • Producing or supporting events
  • Adobe CC or equivalent design tools are a plus, but not required

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary commensurate with experience (Salary Range: $34,600-$42,275).
  • Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance (BCBOBS contributes 75% to Individual coverage monthly premiums) and fully employer-paid employee assistance program (EAP), long-term disability, short-term disability, and life insurance.
  • Employees are eligible to participate in a 401K, with a match up to 5% of salary, after one year of employment.
