POBS Day of Giving
POBS held its first-ever Day of Giving on October 24, with a goal of reaching an unprecedented 155 gifts in a single day. Thanks to a legion of volunteers, donors, and advocates, we surpassed that goal, receiving gifts from nearly 200 donors to our Day of Giving campaign, triggering a $5,000 challenge to raise over $22,000 for Outward Bound's life-changing experiential education programs.
If you didn't get a chance to support POBS during the Day of Giving, you can still have an impact on our work with young people by donating here.
OUR GOAL = 155 DONATIONS
We’ve set an ambitious goal of raising 155 gifts on this day, one for every program we’ll run at our two Philly locations in 2024.

WHAT WE DO
The Philadelphia Outward Bound School (POBS) was founded in 1992 to provide the students of the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) and young people in and around our city with experiential education opportunities in the outdoors. Today, we continue this tradition by providing over 7,500 students per year with opportunities like one-day programs at our locations in Fairmount Park and multi-day expeditions to wilderness areas like the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
These programs are built around supported challenges in natural environments which help students build self-confidence and leadership skills that will stay with them throughout their lives.
OUR OUTCOMES
In a survey of 427 students who experienced a POBS expedition (5 days or longer) over 2022 and 2023, students said:
